Kyou Hanabi (花火杏) is a young girl with a very shy personality. She tends to get flustered easily and blushes a lot around others. Despite her behaviour and simple countryside upbringing by her grandmother she is the heir to the Hanabi Empire whose actual influence is unknown to the female until a later age given her distant relashionship with her parents.
Unlike most children she was raised by her grandmother rather than her parents who left her once they became aware that Kyou carried a genetic illness that would affect her throughout her life. She lost part of her hearing as a child leading her to learn sign language but also to read lips in order to avoid mentioning that side of her. Despise the hardships she always tries to be kind towards others.
Relatives:
Hanabi Saki (mother)
Hanabi Naoyuki (father)
Takasu Seto (grandfather - deceased)
Takasu Yasuko (grandmother)
Personality
At a first glance Kyou shows a very easy going and cheerful personality, she always carried a smile upon her lips and rarely gets mad at anyone, regardless of her past she holds no grudge towards those who ever bullied her or those who would do so in present times.
She is somewhat clueless and innocent even among her peers which often leads to people taking advantage of her or for herself to end up in embarrassing situations. She is quick to blame herself and excuse others, this goes back to her young years, given she blames herself for her parents leaving and being a burden for her grandmother.
Overall Kyou is selfless and self-depreciating as she thinks lowly of herself and values other people’s happiness more than her own. Due to her condition she literally 'hates her existence' and deeply fears how dependable she might become with the evolution of her disease.
Appearence
Kyou has a rather frail physique therefore she is petite when compared to her peers, due to her poor health and weak immune system. She has light brownish-pink wavy hair (inherited from her grandfather) wide honey hues (a trait shared by her father's side of the family).
Her bright skin makes it easier for her to get burned under the sun but given her care it's actually incredibly smooth to the touch. During her highschool years she is usually seen in her uniform but as she grows up her style tends to change, she remains girly but always chooses her clothes with care to portray an elegant nature, only allowing herself to wear more cute-like clothes when at home or back in the countryside.
Background
Despite coming from a very wealthy family, Kyou's life did not turn out as her mother initially intended. She was born in Tokyo during a snowy winter night. As a first child she was very nurtured by her parents and grandparents who were also present at the time of her birth. As she began to grow Kyou tended to be unusually clumsy, she also seemed to struggle to learn how to speak and or understand what people said to her which initially led her parents to think that the young girl was in fact 'slow'. Such difficulties and disappointments led her mother to grow more and more unattached to her and resume her focus on her work as a professional classic musician. For a while Kyou's father continued to devite herself to the child but seeing little improvements he too eventually gave up on her and focused on running his business.
The two family figures grew apart from Kyou and one another which eventually led to them completely avoiding one another except during special events. Kyou was sent to her grandparents house in the countryside and her parents chose to exclude her from High Society due to the shame she could cause their name.
By the time Kyou was five she fell severely ill and had to be hospitalized for several weeks during which she which she was diagnosed with a stripe of Friedreich Ataxia, a genetic disease that explained her struggles and that had in fact already affected her hearing to a point where she was considered clinically deaf from her left ear at that point. Knowing the severity of a degenerative illness caused her to be seen by her mother as nothing more than a burden and eventually contact with the two was nonexistent.
Her illness would progress at an uneven rhythm but her need to be hospitalized and under close watch of specialized doctors increased dramatically leading her to have several surgeries while growing up. Her father was never much of a presence but he supported any financial need of Kyou which alleviated some of the burden her grandparents had to raise a girl as herself.
Due to her illness she would eventually have to move to Tokyo where she began to attend Enma's Private High School and where she made her very first real friend Enma Kotomi. The two could not be more different but Kotomi takes Kyou under her wing shortly after meeting her, she helps her hide her illness from other students and often spends vacations with her in the countryside or takes Kyou to one of her vacation houses (though unknown to both girls at the time, their mothers were in fact old friends as well and the family's would eventually venture in joined business).
Due to her health deteriorating she ends up repeated the last year of high-school twice. The second time she transferred to a Public School so that no one would know her. Though this led to her being apart from Kotomi more often she was able to make a new friend, Akane, who discovered her love for music and even helped her join the Music Club for the last semester. Unfortunately she succumbs to her sickness before the final exams and is forced to repeat her final school year for a third time.
Once she finishes high-school Kyou finally begins to start to think about what she might pursue in life, she sees the violin as an unattainable dream given the evolution of her illness. In order to become fully independent she finds a job at a small local with an American style (Blue Bird) where she begins to work with her friend Akane. Thanks to the cheerful co-worker she attempts to sing one night and actually has a great reception from the audience but has no confidence to commit herself to perform often.
Present
She currently lives in a large apartment in Tokyo, situated at the last floor and surrounded by windows which give her an unusual look over the night sky of the city. And has two jobs, one at night (Friday's and Saturday's) at the Blue Bird where she works as a bartender. Recently she also began to at the local, neighborhood clinic where she helps the old doctor tend to several patients that be it due to poverty or other 'situations' avoid visiting the hospital.
She still attends regular appointments at the hospital and is slowly being forced into physical therapy. In addition to her treatments she also takes several medicines every morning to prevent her health from deteriorating. Apart from her doctor, family and Akane no one is actually aware of Kyou's health condition, to everyone else she presents herself as having hearing issues but even that is a detail she often tries to avoid as much as she can.

Akane became friends with Kyou when she was repeating High-school for the second time. She was a cheerful girl, a teasing girl whose exciting love life were often the topic of conversation between the two. She never treated Kyou any differently regardless of her hearing impairing and was the main reason why Kyou actually decided to join the Music Club and play the violin (which she used to only play at home). After Akane left High-school the two would still often spend time together and she eventually helped Kyou recover from the end of her first and only love relationship to date. She helped Kyou find a job at the Blue Bird and was also responsible not only to lead Kyou to start singing but also to help her re encounter her lost love. She has been very supportive to Kyou but remains too childish when it comes to daily life matters and her personal life.
Kohaku (@sassypun) was Kyou's first and remains the only love of her life. The male has a deep impact on her from the very first moment the two meet as such he is both responsible for her happiness but also for her heartbreaks.
Apart or together Kyou has Kohaku in high esteem and hopes he achieves his dreams and finds someone that will make him happy.
